An article being read aloud in Inoreader: the player above the title and the spoken line highlighted in the text

Listen to your articles

With text-to-speech, you can listen to any article. Inoreader generates the audio on its own servers, and you can keep reading something else while it plays.

Natural voices in 30 languages

Articles are read with natural voices in more than 30 languages.

A full player

Drag the position, pause, resume and change the speed. In the apps, the system player shows the article and the controls on the lock screen.

A shared listening queue

Articles and podcasts share one listening queue, which plays through them in order.

Narration tracking

Each line is marked in the text as it is spoken, so you never lose your place, and you can read along in a second language.

Start listening

  1. Open an article and click Listen with text-to-speech. Inoreader generates the audio and starts it in the player.
  2. Keep reading while the marker follows the narration, or send the player to the background and do something else.
  3. Add more articles or podcast episodes to the queue, and they play on in order.
  4. Change the speed or drag the position in the player. On your phone, you can also use the system player on the lock screen.

Use cases

Catching up on the way to work

Queue the morning's long reads and listen to them on your way to work, with your phone in your pocket.

Getting through long reports

Have a thirty-page analysis read aloud with the marker on the current line, so your attention stays on the argument instead of on the page.

Learning a second language

Listen to articles in the language you are learning while you see the text. When a passage is too hard, switch to a translation with one click.

Frequently asked questions

How do I listen to an article?

Open it and click Listen with text-to-speech. The audio version loads in the player on the page, where you see the duration and can drag the position, pause and resume, and change the playback speed.

Does it keep playing in the background?

Yes, on the web and in the iOS and Android apps. On your phone, the system player shows the article, so you can pause, skip and seek from the lock screen.

Can I queue articles with podcasts?

Yes. Articles and podcast episodes share one listening queue, so on your commute you can listen to an episode followed by three articles without touching your phone.

Which languages can it read?

More than 30, with natural voices generated on our own servers. Each article is read in the language it is written in, and a translated article is read in the language of the translation.

What is narration tracking?

It marks the line being spoken in the text as the article is read, and the marker moves with the narration. You can follow along, look away and find your place again, or read along in a language you are learning.

What are the limits?

Free accounts can listen to 5 articles a day, and Pro accounts have no limit. Unused daily quota does not carry over.
