Stream Soul Glo’s New EP DisNigga Vol. 1

Soul Glo, the great, chaotic hardcore punk band from Philly, have released their new EP Disnigga Vol. 2. While the first volume, released in February, was a stylistic shotgun blast featuring industrial rap and the surprisingly melodic “Screamo Del Barrio,” the new installment is three tracks of all-out righteous fury. Stream it below.

These Arms Are Snakes Announce Reunion Show

These Arms Are Snakes are playing a reunion show. Following a couple weeks of teasing on their newly created Instagram account, they announced that they will be playing at Neumos in Seattle on 8/21 with Filth Is Eternal and Dust Moth.

Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments

I can’t believe we’re already halfway through June. It seems like only yesterday Daft Punk broke up. It’s getting hot, and the cicadas are here, but the good news is we’re out of 1988 in The Number Ones. 1988 sucked for #1s. If you don’t like The Number Ones you’re not gonna like this week’s best comments, but make sure to read the highest-rated one;...

Beachheads – “Jupiter”

Beachheads are back. The power-pop group — which is half made up of members from the Norwegian metal band Kvelertak — has released a new single, “Jupiter,” their first material since 2019’s “Death Of A Nation.” This track is an idyllic summer indie rock song: “Just you and me alone/ Exploding skin at home.” It’s bittersweet and anthemic like Dinosaur...

Taylor Swift’s New Version Of Red Is Coming In November

Back in April, Taylor Swift proved she was serious about re-recording all her albums with the release of Fearless (Taylor’s Version), a nearly note-perfect re-creation of her Grammy-winning 2008 sophomore LP Fearless. At times she has seemed to be hinting that 1989 would be next, but it turns out Red is the one. “This will be the first time you hear...

Information_Age – “We Were Alive”

Joseph D. Rowland of Pallbearer and Hosianna Mantra and Daron Beck of Pinkish Black have teamed up for Information_Age, a synthwave project whose debut self-titled EP is coming next month. Today they’ve released the lead single, “We Were Alive,” an ’80s-style dance track with a haunting aura.

Stream Winston Hytwr’s New Tape As Per My Last Email

When we last checked in on Columbus DIY mainstay Winston Hytwr in 2017 upon the release of the transcendently noisy synth banger “Trouble In Paradise,” he was between his second and third solo albums. Today he’s up to five.

The Tyranny Of Distance Turns 20

At a certain point, a band becomes an archetype. Take it from a guy whose college rock band busied itself ripping off as many of our favorite indie acts as possible. We had our Pixies song, our Belle & Sebastian song, our Strokes song, and several Pavement songs, among other obvious “homages.” This wasn’t always conscious or intentional, but these...

Bloodslide – “MVP”

The post-punk supergroup Bloodslide are back with a new single from their self-titled EP to follow “Pica” and “Trap Door.” The group — comprising Protomartyr’s Greg Ahee on guitar, Preoccupations’ Mike Wallace on drums, and vocalist AJ Lambert (Nancy Sinatra’s daughter) — further proves their knack for eccentric, synth-filled post-punk with “MVP.” It’s...
