A record number of British Columbians have cast their ballots in advance voting before the provincial election on Saturday, Elections B.C. says.

Crews are heading off the coast of northern B.C. to retrieve oil from the site of a 78-year-old shipwreck, the Canadian Coast Guard says. 

With the B.C. NDP and B.C. Conservatives neck and neck heading into election day on Saturday, there are also a record number of Independent candidates who — if voted in — could hold the balance of power in a minority government scenario.
