Which AI platforms does Inoreader support?

Inoreader supports three AI platforms: OpenAI, Mistral AI and Anthropic's Claude. Pro users choose one under Preferences > Intelligence > Platforms, and OpenAI is selected by default.

The platform you choose runs your article summaries and questions, rules that summarize, AI summaries in email digests, Intelligence reports and automated reports. Requests go to that vendor's own API, on Inoreader's account and your monthly Intelligence tokens, or on your own API key. Is my personal data shared with AI providers? says what a request contains.

Choose a platform

  1. Click the gear in the tab bar and open Intelligence.
  2. Open the Platforms tab.
  3. Select OpenAI, Mistral or Claude (Anthropic). The choice is saved at once.

Each card shows the model it uses under the platform's name, and What model does Inoreader Intelligence use by default? lists them.

Features with a fixed provider

A few features use the same provider whatever you select. Suggested tags run on Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite, podcast and video topics and article versions run on OpenAI's GPT-4.1 mini, and the AI overview on a mention's page runs on OpenAI. YouTube transcripts come from Supadata, and podcasts are transcribed on Inoreader's own service.

Use your own API key

With the Intelligence reports add-on or a Team Intelligence plan, you can add your own API key and pick a model on any of the three platforms, so requests run on your account with that vendor. Can I use my own API key? explains how. Pro accounts without the add-on see Purchase add-on on the Platforms tab.

Platforms in a Team

On a Team plan, the team owner can set a platform and key for the whole team under Manage team > Intelligence settings. Members see it as a card with a Team badge, selected by default, and can still pick another platform. See Can my Team have a default AI platform and model?.

Plans

Choosing a platform is part of Intelligence on Pro and higher plans, and Free and Supporter accounts see the cards greyed out with an Upgrade now button. The blog post Choose your AI platform for Intelligence features introduces the choice.
