Can different feeds use different layouts?
Yes. The layout you pick in a feed, folder or tag is saved for that feed, folder or tag only, so one feed can use Card view while another stays in List view. The same goes for its sorting, grouping and the choice between Unread and All articles.
Give a feed its own layout
- Open the feed, folder or tag in the sidebar.
- Click the More (three-dot) button at the right of the header and pick a layout from the Layout list at its top: List, Expanded, Column, Card or Magazine. The keys 1 to 5 pick the same layouts.
- Open another feed and pick a different layout there. Each keeps its own.

Each of the five layouts is shown in the video , and the sorting options are saved the same way.
Folders and their feeds
Picking a layout while a folder is open sets it on the folder and on every feed in it. Picking it in a single feed changes that feed alone. To give a whole folder one look, set the layout on the folder, and to make one feed different, open that feed on its own and pick again. A later change on the folder overwrites the feeds' own choices, and a feed that sits in two folders keeps whatever the folder you changed last set. Adding a feed to a folder doesn't copy the folder's layout to it.
The default layout
Feeds, folders and sections without a choice of their own follow Preferences > Settings > Article listing > Default settings > Layout: List view, Expanded view, Column view, Card view or Magazine view. New accounts start in Card view. Reset custom view styles under Preferences > Account > Reset account puts every feed and folder back to that default, and Reset custom sorting and Reset custom grouping sit beside it, with the other display settings.
Sections with their own layout
Read later and Archive each keep a layout of their own and open in Reading list, a layout only they offer, until you pick another one there. Search results show in Magazine view, and Today has its own layout button in its bar. On phones, Column view isn't offered, so a feed set to Column opens in Magazine there.
Plans
Layouts per feed work on every plan. They are saved on your account, so every browser you sign in from shows the same ones on the web. They don't carry over to the mobile apps.
