Should I use Web feeds or Track changes?

Use a Web feed when a page lists things that keep being added, such as headlines, posts, jobs, events or products, and you want each new link as its own article. Use Track changes when you care about one part of a page that is updated in place, such as a price, a stock message, a schedule or a paragraph of terms, and you want an article for each change.

Follow a list with a Web feed

A Web feed follows a series of links on a page: Inoreader extracts the list, and each new link becomes an article. The builder's AI tab suggests the lists it found, and the Manual tab lets you click a link to pick its list yourself. A selection must consist of links. Watch one area with Track changes

Track changes watches one area of a page and gives you an article each time that area differs from the last check. Visual compares how a rectangle you draw looks, with a Threshold from 1 to 100% (10% by default) for how big a change counts. Text compares the words of the elements you click. A Visual change article shows the difference in percent with a Visit site link, and a Text change article marks added words in green and removed words in red. Shared builder and settings

Both start from Add feed in the tab bar, as Web feed and Track changes feed, and use the same builder with the same Page settings: the page layout, Remove cookie consent and Select & remove element. Enable JavaScript exists for Web feeds only. When Add feed > Website finds no feed for a page, it offers both Create Web feed and Track changes.

Both are feeds: Inoreader checks them on the regular schedule, at least every hour on Pro while the feed is active, and rules, filters, folders and search work on them. To get a notification from either, right-click the feed and choose Create rule.

Plans and limits

Both are Pro features and share one allowance: Pro includes 20 Web feeds and Track changes feeds together, and Team plans share one pool across the team. The feature page Follow any website, even without a feed and the post Improved Web feeds & Track changes show both.
